Imperfect Pearls

4 04 2016

Honestly, I’m not much of a pearl person. I’m not even much of a jewelry person. But one of my favorite experiences that we had was in Zhuji (pronounced “Jew-gee”), where one of our friends invited us to her pearl shop.

I think what I liked about it most is that pearls are supposed to be perfect, but so many are not. Partly because I didn’t even know those types of pearls existed, I find their uniqueness extremely beautiful. In the bracelet I chose, there were ten imperfect pearls – their colors distinct and unrefined – and one that was perfect.
