Spring festival is a busy travel time for many. Which means trains are expensive and hard to book. This led Allison and I to unknowingly ask a Chinese friend to secure a ticket on something called a “sleeper bus” from just outside of Hong Kong to Guilin. Bad idea.

Some amenities they provided us with included one-foot of storage space; a pee bucket in the front of the bus; crying children; and loud, low-budget Chinese movies with lots of shooting.
