Spending some quality time with our computers on Taobao.

Single’s Day, China’s answer to Black Friday, is a growing “festival” in China. It is a strange combination of anti-Valentine’s Day and Black Friday, and takes place starting at midnight on 11.11. Most sales are generated online with two of China’s biggest sellers: Taobao and Alibaba. This year, Chinese people (and foreigners like us) spent a total record of $9.3 billion (yes, that’s a B) in 12 hours.

I’m not sure how I feel about Black Friday OR Taobao, but it was a good chance to acquire a few things that we still are lacking, like spices and bedsheets (my sheets are only big enough to cover half of my bed), so we spent some time purchasing goods from the Chinese online giants.
