Green Green

We pounded the life out of that nián gāo. (Actually, that thing that looks like a battering ram was crazy heavy.)

We went to the Ancient Town (Mínhè) today because it is famous for homemade nián gāo (“knee-an-gaow”). Nián gāo is made by boiling glutinous rice flour and then pouding it into a paste. They said we could try pounding the nián gāo if we bought 5kg of it (that’s a lot).

The Ancient Town was very beautiful, and we learned the word “dìdìlǒ” in our friend’s dialect, which translates to “green green.”
